From the “far-out” to the old-fashioned, folks from all over the west coast participate and shop with Amador County’s Gallery 10.
Located in the small gold-rush town of Sutter Creek, Gallery 10 is one of the more well-known art galleries in the county.
Gallery 10 recently had it’s annual Autumn Open-House Showcase on Saturday, October 4, and offered many different masterpieces to entice art fanatics of all kinds.
“The idea here is to give a diversity of ingredients,” said Jerry Kidd, one of the artists that chips in to pay rent.
Offering a wide variety of art, customers can choose from different types of oil paintings, pottery, jewelry, and even blown glass.
“As far as art expression goes,” said Kidd, “[the idea is] to offer up a more conservative kind of approach to art.”
Eighty percent of the artists in the gallery are local Amador County artists, while the remaining 20 percent can be anyone from Sacramento County to the state of Oregon.
“Some of the things that come in here are pretty far-out, and some are very conservative,” said Kidd.
Gallery 10 is open year-round from Thursday through Monday from 11AM – 5PM, and is located at 15 Eureka Street, Sutter Creek, California.
